So I decided to change the lower seat belt tensioner (item #2) mechanism with a brand new one I picked from dealership.
Installation:
***Since we are working with airbag components, Disconnect the negative pole of the battery and let the car sit for at least 10 minutes before messing around***
1. Disconnect wiring harness below the seat by pulling the plastic plug. Let it rest on the floor
2. Remove the 4 hex bolts holding the entire seat.
3. Take the seat out of the car and let it sit on the ground
4. Disconnect the plug from the tensioner.
5. Remove the torx screw (Item #15) and take the old tensioner out, and place it somewhere safe. Don't forget that it's a very sensitive item containing explosive inside.
6. Install the new tensioner unit. Newer tensioners have 2 plugs and if yours is like that, leave the 2nd plug without anything plugged.
7. Re-connect the plug and make sure the wires don't mess with the seat rail.
8. Place the seat back on the car and adjust it so that all 4 holes are exactly above the corresponding chassis holes.
9. Torque the 4 hex bolts as per manufacturers torque settings.
10. Plug the wiring harness back - Don't forget because you will get the airbag error and you will have to visit dealer.
12. Reconnect battery.
13. Enjoy the instant "click" when buckle engages
Install time: 45 minutes (including the 10 minute waiting time) |
